Lago di Sorapis — step-by-step (and yes, I’d jump in again) 🩵🥾
A classic Dolomites hike with water so turquoise it looks filtered — except it isn’t.

1) Start early

This trail is popular, and for good reason. Earlier start = quieter paths, calmer lake, better light.

2) The route

✅ Distance: ~14km round trip
⏱️ Time: 4–5 hours with stops
📍 Why it’s worth it: constant views, not just a big payoff at the end

3) The hike itself

It’s scenic the whole way — forests, rock sections, big open views. One of those routes where the walk is just as good as the destination.

4) First sight of the lake

Photos don’t quite do it justice. That colour is unreal, especially when the light hits it properly.

5) The swim (controversial bit)

Yes, there are Do Not Swim signs.
Yes, the water is ice cold.
And yes… I’d still jump in again.

It’s one of those moments that wakes you up properly and makes the whole hike feel even more memorable.

6) Final thoughts

Unreal scenery, a proper mountain walk, and a lake you won’t forget in a hurry — whether you swim or just admire it.

This is 𝗣𝗶𝗲𝗿𝗮𝗹𝗼𝗻𝗴𝗶𝗮 𝗩𝗶𝗲𝘄𝗽𝗼𝗶𝗻𝘁 — a must-stop on the Seceda – Rifugio Firenze loop.

It’s one of those places where you don’t rush, don’t talk much, and definitely don’t skip the photo.

Quick tips:
• Allow 10–15 mins here — worth every step
• Best light is late morning with moving clouds
• Combine it with Seceda → Rifugio Firenze for a perfect half-day hike

Cloud shadows, knife-edge ridges, and one of the best hikes in the Dolomites, so good I’ve done it twice.

This is the Seceda – Rifugio Firenze loop — easily one of the most rewarding half-day hikes in the region.

What to know before you go:
🚡 Gondola up Seceda: ~€45 return from Ortisei (worth every cent)
🥾 Hike time: ~3.5–4.5 hours at a relaxed pace
📏 Distance: ~10km loop
⛰️ Difficulty: Moderate (exposed sections but nothing technical)

Why it’s special:
• Unreal views over the Odle / Geisler peaks
• Constantly changing light — clouds can make or break it
• Rifugio Firenze is the perfect mid-hike stop

Don’t skip this:
🍹 Bombardino at Rifugio Firenze — warm, boozy, and exactly what your legs deserve halfway through the loop.

Top tip: Start early. Seceda is popular, and once clouds roll in, the magic can disappear fast.

Fantastic view to start the day.

Clouds slowly lifting, drifting upwards through the valleys — quiet, moody, almost mystical.

I’m glad I stopped here before starting the hike. Not long after, the clouds turned to rain and the view disappeared completely.

A few tips if you’re planning it:

1️⃣ Start here first
This viewpoint — Punto Panoramico Dolomiti — is worth visiting early, before committing to the hike.

2️⃣ Get there early
Light is softer, crowds are minimal, and weather windows don’t last long in the Dolomites.

3️⃣ Time needed
Allow a relaxed half-day for the hike itself, with room to stop rather than rush.

4️⃣ Stay nearby
Being close to the trailhead makes early starts realistic — and they really matter here.
